File Formats

Here at Kick Back Samples we aim to deliver the most versatile sample libraries with a wide range of compatability and the most flexibility for our users.

We provide many of our sample libraries in multiple file formats to allow the greatest flexibility with your preferred audio application. We use advanced sampling technology to ensure the highest audio fidelity for each format and the lowest loss of quality during conversion.

All audio is provided at a sample rate of 44.1 kHz with 24bit conversion. We typically provide our loops in both Apple Loops (aiff) and Acidized Wav format. These file types include additional information which allow for instant tempo matching when used with supported software such as Logic, Garageband or Acid Pro. If you intend to use with non-supported software DO NOT worry as both formats will work as typical wav or aiff files.

We also provide Rex2 files which are compatible with nearly all major music software and also allow for tempo matching but additionally allow individual slice/beat control.

In addition some sound libraries include files to be used with your favourite virtual samplers including Halion, NN-XT, Kontakt, Battery and Redrum. Dependent on the sample library we include all our multi-sampled instruments and prepared drum kits in these formats.

Acid Loops (wav)

Acid loops were originally designed for use with Sonic Foundry's Acid software. They are WAV files containing additional tempo and key information for instant mapping to your song project. These files are just normal wav files with extra information so will work with all major music software!

Apple Loops (aiff)

Mac based audio loops primarily for use with Logic and Garage Band. These loops contain additional information including instrument tags for easy browsing along with bpm & pitch information for instant matching to your song's tempo and key.

Rex2

The Rex2 file format was developed by Propellerhead for use with their famous Reason music application. Rex Files are now supported by nearly all the major music software. Compatabile DAWs can dynamically adjust the tempo and pitch of these files and also each individual slice/segment can be triggered via MIDI or pitch adjusted seperately. Great for making a loop your own!
